A Humidor Hygrometer: A Great Gifts But Are They Really Necassary?

For all cigar enthusiasts and collectors, it is always important to not only get the best tasting cigars, but it's imperative to keep them at a pristine condition and even improve the aroma and flavour of the cigar. The partner that every enthusiast needs to keep their cigars safe would be a good humidor to store their cigars and to also keep it safe.

What makes the humidor the ideal place to store cigars is its ability to keep a near constant level of ideal humidity, somewhere between 70 to 75%, and how this is being measured is through a humidor hygrometer that can be kept inside the box.

A humidor hygrometer is a device that measures the relative humidity inside your humidor so it can be closely monitored, as changes in season and changes of where a humidor is situated can affect the humidity inside it. There are two types of humidor hygrometers out in the market; one would be the analog humidor hygrometer and the other a digital humidor hygrometer.

Most would prefer the digital humidor hygrometers as they are more dependable in reading humidity and for the easily read interface they have. Though no matter what type of humidor hygrometer you get, you should have it calibrated at least once every year. If you need steps to do this, it's easily available through the internet.

Humidors normally come with their hygrometers but to be on the safe side, it's best to buy your own hygrometer that is of top quality. Keep in mind that having a good humidor comes hand in hand with getting a good humidor hygrometer. Some humidor hygrometers might be more expensive compared to others, but it is well worth it when you think of keeping your cigars safe for years. Also, though humidors come with hygrometers, at times these hygrometers are mostly there for aesthetic purposes rather than for functionality, so be practical, get a humidor hygrometer of your own.

After buying your own humidor hygrometer, check if it is already pre-calibrated, if it is then you can go ahead and place it inside your humidor. If you want to check if your humidor is functioning well, you can wrap it in a fully-moistened towel and wrap it for an hour, later on check if it reads 100%, is should be good to go.

Getting and acquiring great cigars is important to a collector, but only through getting a good humidor and a good humidor hygrometer can the cigar be enjoyed to the utmost in years to come.
